In 2009, the Central Government’s No. 1 Document focused on the issues related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers for the sixth time, highlighting the urgency and importance of these issues. Therefore, fertilizer companies, which are closely connected to these issues, must assume greater social responsibilities. Although fertilizer companies are currently facing the adverse effects of the financial crisis, we must also overcome these difficulties and get through this tough time. How can fertilizer companies overcome difficulties and better serve agriculture, rural areas, and farmers? I believe that more efforts must be made in areas such as structural adjustment, price regulation, and energy conservation and consumption reduction. In this regard, technology will play an important supporting role. While fertilizer companies increase their investment in technology and raise the technological content of their products, **it is also essential to provide guidance and support to these companies in terms of technology. Therefore, I urge **that attention be paid to this issue**, and I hope that technological support can be provided to fertilizer companies in the following areas. First is the exchange of information between technology departments and fertilizer companies. The science and technology department should disseminate knowledge about the use of scientific fertilizers to farmers, and educate them to develop correct attitudes toward fertilizer use. Use technological methods to test soil for farmers and guide them in applying fertilizers appropriately. At the same time, the technology department should also disclose the actual conditions of the land to fertilizer companies in an open manner, thereby providing guidance for their production activities. Second is the interaction between personnel from science and technology institutions and fertilizer companies. **Personnel from science and technology institutions should be assigned to fertilizer companies in a guiding capacity to assist with production, enabling these companies to achieve breakthroughs in energy conservation, cost reduction, and product upgrading through the power of science and technology. A “green channel” should be established for employees of fertilizer companies to receive education at scientific and technological institutions, enabling these companies to improve their overall technological capabilities more quickly and effectively. Third, establish an incentive mechanism to encourage fertilizer companies to increase investment in technology. In market competition, if a company does not rely on technological capabilities to support its development, it is bound to decline. Therefore, **it is very necessary to establish incentive mechanisms. For fertilizer companies that have a strong awareness of technology, invest heavily in it, feature a high level of technological content, and achieve good results through technology, **certain policy incentives can be provided, which is highly beneficial for the sustainable development of such companies.
