Problems with valve gaskets

Does anyone know how gaskets are classified? I’ve been really stuck on this lately – there are these B-type and C-type gaskets, and I don’t understand what relation they have to valves. For example, which type of gasket should be used for valves with male and female surfaces, and which one for flat surfaces? What about other types of valves? If anyone knows, please share more details; I’m really eager to learn about this, hehe
Are you referring to metal wound gaskets? Type A is the basic type (without inner or outer rings) and is suitable for mortise-and-tenon surfaces. Type B has an inner ring and is suitable for concave and convex surfaces. Type C has an outer ring, while Type D has both inner and outer rings; both are suitable for convex surfaces, though the latter is used under higher pressures.
