In the chemical industry, basic design is quite important. This is because it is necessary to determine the main production processes as well as the overall layout of the facility; it involves further developing and bringing the concepts from the feasibility study to reality. The most important aspect is determining the investment required for the project, as the detailed investment amount generally cannot exceed a certain limit, otherwise the project cannot proceed! So the initial design is quite important. If the preliminary design is done well, the detailed design will proceed smoothly. Otherwise, it will drag on. It became a half-finished project!

You need to look at the basic design of a project and determine what role that design plays. Larger projects naturally have to follow relevant regulations, while the basic design for some smaller projects is merely done to fulfill procedural requirements. Moreover, the client often doesn’t want the design firm to know certain things, so they just go through the motions.
On the contrary, I think basic design is what best develops a person. PFD, PID, and the process specification sheet – these are the essence of everything for process engineers~
