In catalytic cracking, what medium is generally used for the instrument reverse blowing in the settler? Is it still dry gas? Can wind be used?
I have never seen the use of steam for backwashing the instruments in settlers (it is likely to be difficult); inert gases or purified gas can be used instead. Using purified air is definitely an option, and most installations opt for purified air since its volume is small, so there is no need to worry too much about the risk of oil mixing with air.
We have two streams here: one is purified air, and the other is steam. Use air at startup, and switch to steam once normal operation is achieved.
