There are pumps specifically designed for transporting asphalt; these are usually gear pumps or screw pumps with insulation, and can operate in conditions where the temperature is below 350°C.
There are many types of asphalt, including emulsified asphalt and modified asphalt. Gear pumps equipped with insulation jackets are generally used for handling these materials. Emulsified asphalt is a rather special type of asphalt; its viscosity increases when the temperature is above 35 degrees Celsius or below 35 degrees Celsius. Therefore, special insulation jacket systems are needed to maintain the temperature at 35 degrees Celsius
