The basic principle of coal gas production using an Endler furnace: The Endler furnace combines a coal gasification furnace, a gas thermal cracking furnace, and a water gas furnace in one unit. Briquette coal is burned in an Endler furnace, vaporized in a reducing atmosphere, and thermally cracked into reducing gases under oxygen-rich conditions ; The water-gas reaction occurs in the presence of water vapor. Different reducing gases can be produced depending on the gasifying agent used. Its reformation reactions are as follows: C + 1/2 O2 → CO (exothermic reaction); C + H2O → CO + H2 (endothermic reaction); C + 2H2 → CH4 (hydrogenation reaction); CO + H2O → H2 + CO (displacement reaction); CO + H2O → CO2 + H2 (reformation reaction); 2CH4 + O2 → 2CO + 4H2 (reformation reaction); CH4 + H2O → CO + 3H2O (reformation reaction); CMHN + O2 → H2 + CO (cracking reaction)
The technical features of the Ende furnace coal gasification process are as follows: (1) The Ende furnace is a pulverized coal fluidized bed high-temperature gasifier, which offers a high coal gasification rate and high production efficiency. (2) The Ende furnace combines a gasification furnace, a thermal decomposition furnace, and a water-gas furnace; it can use various gasifying agents and, through high-temperature reforming, produces reducing gases with different compositions in order to increase the gas yield from coal. (3) The Ende furnace can use lignite, long-flame coal, and/or non-coking coal as raw materials; it has a wide range of available coal sources and low costs. (4) In the coal-to-gas production process using the Ende furnace, the cooling water is reused and does not flow outside; as a result, there is little wastewater and pollutants such as tar generated, and the coal slag can be used to make coal slag bricks or as a raw material for sintering. (5) Ende furnaces have a high gas production rate per unit volume; one Ende furnace with a capacity of 40,000 m3/h can replace 16 conventional gas generators with a diameter of 3 m, thus reducing construction costs.
