For example, the minimum pup joint of a 3" pipe is 50mm.
There is this passage in Chapter 14 of the "Chemical Process Design Manual": When using formed seamless pipe fittings (elbows, reducers, tees), they should not be welded with flat welding flanges (can be directly welded with butt welding flanges). This should be related to the girth weld spacing. The minimum spacing for nominal diameter DN150 is 150mm. It's written in the pipe installation manual.
