I would like to ask the experts: There are 4 raw material storage tanks (7 meters high, with a diameter of 6 meters each; flat-bottomed and with conical tops). The materials stored in these tanks need to be isolated from air, so nitrogen is used to seal them. The required pressure for nitrogen sealing is 1200 Pa, while the normal exhaust pressure for the vent valves is 1700 Pa. The output pressure from the nitrogen supply control valve should also be maintained at 1200 Pa. In principle, each tank should be equipped with its own supply valve and vent valve. However, could we consider saving costs by connecting the 4 tanks in parallel and using just one nitrogen control valve to supply nitrogen to all of them, with each tank still having its own vent valve? Would this configuration be sufficient to ensure proper nitrogen sealing of the tanks? Why? Thank you! !
It is possible, but you need to reroute the piping and adjust the nitrogen seal valve. Conventionally, one is paired with one, which is safer that way. It’s not even worth considering using piping for that purpose; it’s better to buy a nitrogen seal valve instead. Don’t bother with it.
It’s best not to use it. If one of the devices needs to be serviced, does that mean the control valves on the nitrogen pipeline have to be closed? In that case, the other devices won’t be able to remain under nitrogen sealing. Alternatively, a manual valve can be installed at the nitrogen sealing inlet for each device, which would solve the problem; For the convenience of future maintenance, it is advisable to install manual valves and control valves on the nitrogen seal inlet pipes of each device, and then connect them to the main pipe
General requirements for nitrogen sealing: It is standard to equip each tank with a separate inlet valve and a vent valve, which ensures safety and facilitates maintenance. Connecting the 4 storage tanks in parallel and using only one nitrogen control valve to supply nitrogen, with a breather valve installed on each tank, enables nitrogen sealing to be achieved. Once the nitrogen control valve fails, the nitrogen seals of all 4 storage tanks will fail simultaneously, which is less safe than the previous method.
It’s possible, as long as the nitrogen sealing pressure is consistent. For the pressure reduction stage, one set is sufficient; for parallel operation, a regular isolation valve is enough for maintenance purposes.
