A very strange defoamer. Purpose: Used for defoaming water-based systems containing hydrochloric acid, at pH=1. Appearance: A pale yellow transparent aqueous solution; at pH=9, it forms foam when stirred. Preliminary tests: It contains anionic surfactants, may also contain non-ionic surfactants; it contains no volatile organic compounds but does contain inorganic substances. Solid content: 3%. A strange phenomenon is that the addition of a dilute sodium chloride solution to this defoamer results in the formation of a white precipitate. Acidification with hydrochloric acid produces bubbles that persist for some time, while the liquid becomes white and turbid. What substances might be present inside that could form a precipitate with sodium chloride? Does acidification release a small amount of gas slowly? Please ask experts to help analyze and discuss! Additionally, the addition of sodium carbonate, barium chloride, and silver nitrate all results in a white precipitate.

What substances might be present inside that could form a precipitate with sodium chloride? There aren’t many substances that can form a precipitate with sodium chloride.
Contains Ag+; I’ve never heard of any similar defoamers
