Why is a shut-off valve installed after the steam control valve assembly at the connection point to the equipment?
Generally, control valves do not have very good sealing properties; I believe this is to ensure equipment safety by preventing overpressure in the equipment due to steam heating under special circumstances.
Because there are other processes passing through this valve, it needs to be shut off using this valve.
From a safety perspective, and is it also used as a backup?
It might be for easier maintenance, or perhaps for purging purposes; theoretically it isn’t very useful, unless there are branch pipes after the adjustment unit
