When a modular distillation tower is separated into a reboiler and a condenser, the results are quite different, and sometimes convergence is not possible
Really, why break it apart and do it separately? Because more design variables are involved after separation, it is less likely to converge compared to a distillation column equipped with a reboiler and a condenser.
It’s like this: after separation, the number of variables increases, and the number of variables that require iteration also increases, which makes convergence more difficult. However, if certain conditions are met (or appropriate changes are made, such as removing the condenser or adjusting the number of tray layers, etc.), then the result after convergence will be essentially the same and should be within the allowable error range.
