Let’s discuss the issue of purge gas emissions
After confirming that the medium in the system has been thoroughly purged, the gas is discharged from the upper part of the container. An sewage system can be buried underground; the condensate from all low points can be connected to this sewage system or discharged into an oily wastewater system.
I’m not sure whether the purge gas referred to by the original poster is the purge gas containing gas vapors after material removal, or an inert gas that does not contain flammable gases, such as steam or nitrogen. In my facility, the purge gas containing gas vapors is sent directly to a flare, while the gas without flammable components is simply vented.
I am carrying out catalytic shutdown maintenance; the purge gas cannot be discharged directly into the atmosphere and must be routed through the flare line. The safety valve leads to the flare line via a bypass line. After purging the device, close the boundary valve of the flare and install a blind flange.
The steam or nitrogen used for purging pipelines during shutdown maintenance must be directed into sealed containers or flares. When performing pipeline purging during the shutdown of our unit’s catalytic unit, the oil is sent into the fractionation tower; the gases are routed to the flare via safety valve connections. The oily condensate is collected in oil-contaminated tank cars and sent to the storage area for recovery, while the oily wastewater transported by water is sent to an emergency tank for treatment; In the liquefied gas system, the liquefied gas that cannot be discharged from the device is first sent to the gas system to be vented and used to generate steam in the gas boiler; after pressure is relieved, the system is purged using nitrogen or steam.
