I have a question that isn’t directly related to CAD. Besides PS, what other software can be used for creating images, especially for designing packaging for things like food and pharmaceuticals?

There are too many; even the simplest drawing pad will do. It depends on whether you want something more powerful or simpler
The light and shadow magician is also rather beginner-friendly
For more extensive PS functions, simple edits can be done using a drawing program, while creating special effects requires software developed specifically for that purpose.
