I have a very strong impression of the course in physical chemistry. Others took 1 year to learn it, while I took 3 years! I think it was my sophomore year; I was a member of the school’s volleyball team. At the end of that year, there was a volleyball competition among colleges and universities affiliated with the Ministry of Chemical Industry, and I went to compete without having taken the exams in physical chemistry and organic chemistry. It’s not possible to take the exam either; there were hardly any classes held throughout the semester. One has to take a make-up exam right at the start of the semester, and if one fails that exam, the school’s volleyball team offers a sports make-up exam – failing that doesn’t count as failing the course; otherwise it’s the end of everything. But it’s necessary to pass it before graduation, so at the end of each semester I had to review physics and chemistry. Since I had already failed two English courses, I didn’t even dare to take the exams in physics and chemistry despite having reviewed them over and over again. . . It wasn’t until my senior year that I joined my physical chemistry teacher’s graduation project group and studied for some more time; it was only before graduation that I dared to take the exam. I think I scored 98 points – that’s really great! It was the subject in which I scored the highest during my university years; my scores on the other subjects were usually between 60 and 70, with them often being on the lower end of that range. . . . . . No way, that’s not cost-effective at all. It takes the same amount of time to learn without having to be much better than others, but at least one doesn’t have to be worse than them either.
