Fire and Ice Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To know that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. Fire and Ice Some say the world will end in blazing flames, Others say it will end in freezing ice. Desire is like fire; experiencing its intensity, one realizes that the world turning to fire is what I desire. But if it must be destroyed twice, I know hatred reaches its peak; I will surely realize that the ice of destruction is just as mighty, and just as in line with human desires.
