I would like to consult experts. We have a tower with a large diameter, and considering transportation issues, it is not possible to weld the base portion – the reason being that the large diameter of the base makes it impossible to transport it over bridges. However, the drawings require overall heat treatment. My plan is to avoid welding the bottom plate of the base and other similar components; instead, they will be welded on-site after being transported there, followed by local heat treatment (is it possible to omit the heat treatment?). Is this approach feasible? I hope experienced individuals or experts can provide their feedback! Thank you!
My opinion: The lower parts such as the skirt base plate can be left unwelded and welded on site after transportation, as they do not belong to the pressure vessel section and therefore do not require heat treatment. I have never done this before, so I’m not sure if this is correct.
Weld the weldable parts of the skirt base according to the permitted transportation height, with the remaining part to be installed on-site
It’s not necessary to weld around the entire perimeter; you can leave the two sides unfinished and weld them on later
The overall heat treatment of the equipment is best carried out by the manufacturer of the equipment; local heat treatment is only resorted to when it’s necessary. As mentioned by the original poster, the size of the base is a bit large. I think that if the equipment is too large in size, a lightweight frame structure could be used for transportation. This approach allows the equipment to be lowered as close to the ground as possible in order to avoid height restrictions; it’s advisable to consult with companies specialized in transporting large items! ! !
How big is the diameter? We have transported 4,000 towers in total.

4900 is more than enough! Because such large items cannot be transported on highways! Also, the height limit for ordinary bridge openings is usually only around 4900, and with the vehicle body added, it becomes very difficult! The shipping cost is likely to be around 100,000 to 200,000; the costs are simply too high
