In our workshop, when blending gasoline, we add an additive called mother liquor. What is the composition of this mother liquor, and what is its function?
According to current environmental regulations, it should be MTBE (that is, methyl tert-butyl ether).

I just checked, and it turns out that the EU has lifted the safety alert regarding MTBE. I think the main components of that mother liquor can be any components found in finished gasoline; it’s called a mother liquor because it contains other additives dissolved in it. It’s probably better to dissolve/dilute the additive first before adding it to gasoline, as that makes it easier to control compared to adding it directly to the gasoline.

The mother liquor is prepared by diluting high-concentration MMT with gasoline components. MTBE does not require dilution.
I agree with the views from floors 10 and 11. There are two advantages to preparing a mother solution: first, it reduces the hassle of weighing the reagents each time; second, it minimizes the errors caused by extremely small amounts of reagents during each weighing. Generally, the amount of MMT added is very small, and it is difficult to measure it accurately in industrial applications. There are two advantages to adding MMT, which has been prepared as a mother solution, to gasoline: 1. The dosage can be controlled accurately. 2. Preparing a mother liquor makes it easier to mix MMT and gasoline evenly, achieving the best results.
Add MTBE or heavy aromatics
Is it necessary to avoid light or minimize exposure to light when adding it? If so, 90% of the time it is MMT.
It is MMT (methylcyclopentadienyltrihydroxymanganese), packaged in steel cylinders; MTBE is a blending component.
