The crystal structure of bentonite is extremely fine; under conditions of high water content, the diameter of bentonite particles is 0.02 μm. The thickness is 0.002 μm. The particle diameter of ordinary clay is 1-2 μm. The special fine crystal structure of bentonite gives it many excellent properties, such as high dispersibility, suspension capacity, swelling property, adhesiveness, adsorption capacity, and cation exchange capacity. Appropriate addition of bentonite as a particle binder during production, taking advantage of its smooth lubricating properties, can significantly improve the efficiency and output of granulation.
