Some of the chimneys of heating furnaces I’ve seen weren’t secured; in some cases, a simple rope was used to tie them to the fence or something similar, while others were fixed using anchor piles. Yet I always felt that anchor piles weren’t very reliable either, as they could loosen due to soil expansion and contraction. I designed a heating furnace in which concrete pedestals were required to secure the chimney, but the construction team didn’t carry out that requirement. In the end, it was just covered up with anchor piles. I was wondering, what is generally used to secure chimneys that people have seen? The chimneys are about 10 meters tall, while some are only 4 or 5 meters high. Different furnace manufacturers have different design heights for their chimneys. The chimney isn’t very tall, I guess; otherwise they wouldn’t dare to cut corners. The concrete pilings are good!
The chimneys of heating furnaces produced today all have guide air fins, which also serve to enhance the strength of the chimneys; therefore, no tension rods are used to secure them.
The chimney you’re talking about is over ten meters tall, right, and not very thick. Generally speaking, a concrete foundation should be used and fixed with anchor bolts. If that doesn’t work, it can be secured with wind ropes, and the fixing end of the wind ropes should be attached to something fixed that cannot move.
Not fixed? Is the iron chimney about ten meters tall? Gallaso is needed too. The chimney of the large furnace, with a concrete lining and refractory material, is 50 meters high, ensuring a stable pass rate in exams.
The windbreak rings for heating furnace chimneys that were used in previous designs are no longer in use these days; the chimneys we design these days (around 50 meters tall) don’t have them either
