If only the diameter and height of the elliptical container are known, how can the volume of the end cap be determined?
It would be easy if the total volume were known; it’s very difficult to calculate just the volume of the head.
The head standard can be used; if that’s not possible, one can develop a small program to calculate the head volume using the formula defined in the head standard interpretation.
I remember there’s a formula for calculating the volume of the end cap according to standards; go take a look.
Check JB/T4746, or calculate using the formula

As long as the nominal diameter of the head and the height of the straight edges are known, the standard calculation for the head can be carried out.
It’s actually quite simple: draw the shape in a 1:1 ratio, convert it into a solid shape, and subtract two of them to get the volume of the end cap. This is the most accurate method!

The formula for calculating the head volume is V=0.1309*Di^3+h*3.14*(Di/2)^2
I’ll give you a formula that yields quite accurate results. (The formula is hard to type, so I have to go through some trouble. ) v = volume of the head, in cubic meters; a = inner diameter of the head, in meters; b = mid-diameter of the head = inner diameter of the head + plate thickness, in meters; h0 = height of the straight edges of the head, in meters. Formula: V = π×a×a×(2÷3×b+h0)
I usually don’t calculate them; once I have the drawings, I can find the diameter of the elliptical head, the height of the straight edges, the height of the curved surfaces, and so on. I can look up this information in reference books. I don’t have an electronic version available, but I’ll upload one once I find it.

For standard end caps, just look up the relevant standards – JBT4746. The standard specifications include calculation formulas, which are quite clear. Such software is also available online; if you don’t want to do the calculations, just search for it yourself
