Mathematically, the ratio of the power consumed for plant operations to the power generated is known as the plant load factor, which is an important technical and economic indicator for power plants. The plant electricity consumption rate for conventional thermal power plants is 8-10%, while that for condensing power plants is 4-8%. This is because, in addition to the electricity used for power generation, thermal power plants also need electricity for heating purposes. As for the difference between large and small units mentioned by the original poster, I think it depends on the type of unit; the number and types of auxiliary machines such as condensing units, extraction turbines, and backpressure turbines also vary, which naturally leads to differences in power consumption.
