Current regulations require that for process operations with a hazard assessment score of 16 or higher, automatic control and interlock systems must be installed in those involving reactions such as chlorination, nitration, hydrogenation, diazotization, and sulfonation (DCS is not necessarily required; PLCs can also be used). The installation of automated control systems and interlocking devices should be carried out by qualified design firms, with installation and commissioning done by specialized installation teams before the systems are put into use.
