Selection between polyethylene expanded PTFE sheets and PTFE sheets

Some spare materials need to be prepared for starting work; originally, 10 m2 of polytetrafluoroethylene sheets with a thickness of 3 mm were ordered for use as gasket material for the circulating water flanges. Later, the manufacturer said that this type of gasket could not be processed on-site (it couldn’t be cut). If it was necessary to cut the gasket manually on site, polyethylene expanded PTFE sheet should be used, as this material is soft and easy to cut by hand. However, it’s not clear what thickness of such polyethylene expanded PTFE sheet would be equivalent to a 3 mm thick PTFE sheet.
The compression amount of polytetrafluoroethylene expansion plates is 50%; if you use such plates, you’ll need 6mm thick plates, and the compressed thickness will be around 2.5mm. However, in terms of cost, this is too expensive. Haha, you can use expanded PTFE sheets, which can be cut, or you can use expanded PTFE strip gaskets – that’s simpler, haha
