Is there a solution to the problem of cathode copper plates falling off in copper electrowinning? The plate is not thick, and the electrolyte temperature is normal! But the copper plates keep getting pried open, which can easily cause short circuits! Please find a solution! :)
What kind of cathode are you using? Titanium and stainless steel cathodes require re-surface treatment, or you should use copper cathodes instead!
1. Is the issue with the plates coming loose due to incorrect usage? ? 2. Cathode plate polishing?
Don’t polish the cathode plate too much – we’ve encountered this issue before as well.
A titanium plate can be used as the cathode, with its surface treated by sandblasting!
In your case, it’s due to the high stress in the electrodeposited copper plates; perhaps the gelatin used was not appropriate, or there are impurities present
Surface sandblasting treatment; it’s polished too much
Apart from the plate surface issue, there may be an extractant present in the electrolyte.
