What's the reason for foaming in the gas-generating hydraulic oil? We overhauled the gas generation system this year, and modified some of the oil pipes in the hydraulic system. The test run was normal for several days, and then the oil was replaced (we used authentic turbine oil). After one day of test run, we found a lot of foaming in the fuel tank, so we stopped to change the oil. After it was turned on, it started to bubble again after a few days of use, and it started to bubble again after another ten days of operation. When we first judged the problem, we quickly denied the problem of oil quality, oil temperature, and water intrusion. However, in addition to the above-mentioned points in the foaming caused by physical factors, there are also non-condensable gases mixed into the oil to cause foaming. The question is where does the gas come from? We have checked that the pressure of the accumulator is normal. Could it be that the remaining air in the pipeline has been removed after maintenance? But the remaining air is limited after all, so it won't be affected multiple times. Therefore, we checked the oil pump relief valve, re-tightened the oil pump inlet joints, and applied butter to prevent air and oil from mixing and causing bubbling. Only time will verify whether it is correct or not. Is it possible that the inlet of the gear oil pump is not tightened, causing mixed pumping of air and oil? I think you may be using the wrong oil. Hydraulic systems should use hydraulic oil (a working medium that transfers energy or power with the help of liquid pressure energy in a closed volume). It has suitable viscosity, good viscosity-temperature, and excellent lubrication properties (anti-wear Performance), excellent thermal, oxidative stability, hydrolytic stability, shear stability, good emulsification resistance, good rust prevention, corrosion resistance, good foam resistance and air release, good sealing material adaptability, good cleanability and filterability. The turbine oil (i.e. turbine oil) you choose is mainly used to lubricate the working medium of sliding bearings, reduction gears and speed regulators of high-speed turbine units. In addition, steam turbine oil is also widely used in the lubrication of steam turbines of large and medium-sized ships and warships, industrial gas turbines, as well as turbo compressors, turbo refrigerators, turbo blowers, turbochargers, turbo pumps, etc.
I think the possibility of air intake and mixed pumping is almost non-existent, because it is unlikely to cause oil bubbles. It is better to check whether the oil system is in contact with other system media, causing slight contamination of the lubricating oil.
It may be that the old oil in the original system was not drained out and new oil was added again. (The quality of new and old oil is different, even if it is the same brand)
The problem was solved, that is, the diameter of the O-shaped sealing channel of the oil pump was not enough and the sealing was not tight. After applying sealant at the bottom, the problem was solved. Thank you!
