It’s definitely not possible to do without a flare line; such an approach would cause too much strain on the fuel gas system. Moreover, when safety valves release air, the sulfur content in that air can be too high, leading to corrosion of the furnace.
The recycling of refinery gas to reduce pollution has become an important area of research. But, as lz said, it would be a huge hassle.
Equipment such as the initial distillation tower (flash tower) and atmospheric distillation tower in vacuum distillation units operates at relatively low pressures, and it’s possible that the safety valves never need to be activated throughout their entire service life. But since they are called \"safety valves,\" they exist for safety reasons – to handle situations where pressure might rise, such as when a large amount of water enters the tower and vaporizes rapidly, causing pressure to increase, and so on. It would be utterly absurd to direct the gas released after the safety valve opens into the fuel gas line, as the poster mentioned. Firstly, atmospheric and vacuum distillation fuel gas is generally high-pressure gas with a relatively high pressure ; Secondly, even when the pressure of the fuel gas is low, the vent gas contains not only gas but also large amounts of liquid such as straight-run gasoline; it’s very dangerous if this mixture enters the heater!
The torch line may not be provided, but the outlet of the safety valve must not be connected to the fuel gas line
