When choosing a centrifugal water pump, is it better to go for one with a high rotational speed or one with a low rotational speed?
It depends on the medium you are transporting. If the medium contains many hard particles, it is best not to use too high a rotation speed, as this can lead to increased wear; If there are no particles or only a few, it is better to choose a high-speed model, as they are smaller in size, lighter in weight, and require less investment! :)
Depending on the medium and operating conditions, you can simply ask the manufacturer directly. The rotational speed of centrifugal pumps is generally not very high.

Centrifugal pumps are generally used to transport media similar to water, without solid particles, fibers, or viscous materials. Therefore, there is generally no specific requirement regarding the speed of centrifugal pumps; 2-pole or 4-pole motors with speeds of 3000 rpm or 1500 rpm can be used accordingly
It actually depends on the properties of the fluid being transported and the pumping pressure required. For substances prone to cavitation, high rotational speed might be one of the necessary factors; however, considering energy consumption, I would choose a low-horsepower multi-stage compressor to handle such substances. As for suspension fluids with few particles, I believe a lower rotational speed is preferable, and it would be even better to apply a layer of Teflon inside the casing and on the blades to reduce wear
