What size of factory requires an independent environmental protection department! ! !

We are a small factory; environmental protection is handled by my department in the technical team. I’m not sure whether in your companies, environmental protection is managed by a dedicated department or by another department.
I’d like to respond to the original poster first: in order to enhance safety and environmental protection efforts, our company merged the separate departments for safety and environmental protection into one larger department (with no reduction in staff). It doesn’t matter whether a separate department exists or not; what’s important is to have the necessary dedicated staff, an appropriate management system, and a sound monitoring framework, so as to effectively control pollution within the company and ensure that all environmental protection measures function properly. Of course, larger companies usually have dedicated departments, sections, or teams for environmental protection, while smaller ones may have such functions as part of the safety and environmental protection department or the production technology department. As long as corresponding responsibilities and rights can be assigned to it.
Our company’s environmental protection efforts are handled by the safety department. Regardless of the size of the factory, someone should be responsible for safety and environmental protection, unless it is a pollution-free factory.
Our company’s Safety and Environment Department has been merged into the Production Department; there are 900 employees in total. Now, only the safety unit under the Production Department remains. Each department has a safety officer, and each work team also has its own safety officer responsible for handling daily safety and environmental protection tasks.
It can be said that current **laws and regulations do not seem to provide clear provisions on this matter. In general enterprises, environmental protection functions are managed uniformly by the safety management department, but dedicated managers are appointed!
