For systems in which the two components are completely miscible and have an azeotrope, how can azeotropic distillation be achieved without the use of an azeotrope-forming agent, extraction distillation, or salt addition?
On one’s own sofa, if two Taga devices are used to adjust the azeotropic components, then an azeotrope will always be present.
Double-column differential pressure distillation can be employed, with one column undergoing vacuum distillation and the other under pressure distillation; for the minimum azeotrope, two pure component products can be obtained from the bottoms of both columns.
Personal understanding: Utilize the effect of pressure on the azeotrope temperature to carry out azeotropic distillation in two or multiple columns. Depending on the azeotrope system, the purer component is obtained at the top or bottom of the tower.
Those who support the 3rd approach rely on distillation; either by using differential pressure or by adding salt to disrupt the azeotrope. Otherwise, it’s not distillation, and other separation methods must be used.
