Question: For fixed-tube-sheet heat exchangers, when the front and rear tube boxes are conical in shape, how should SW6 be used for calculations? Since the program assumes cylindrical tube boxes and there are no options available for other shapes, I’m wondering how those who encounter conical or other irregularly shaped tube boxes proceed with the calculations. Is it necessary to avoid performing calculations here and instead calculate the tube boxes as separate components?
If the front and rear tube boxes are conical, the head can be used for calculation among the available components.
I agree with Lou’s method; if the front and rear tube boxes are conical, the head part among the components can be used for calculation. We did the same.
It can be calculated using the head part of the components; the calculation sheet can be prepared separately.
