What impact would a sudden shutdown of the air separation unit have in the oxygen-enriched gas production process?
The oxygen-enriched gas generation process is a partial oxidation conversion process; both dry and wet gasification require oxygen, which is supplied by air separation units. When there is a failure in these units, the gasification section must be shut down.
If the air separation unit fails, the plant has to be shut down, right? Even if it is forced to run using air, substandard products will be produced. .
If the air separation unit stops operating suddenly for one or two hours, does the vaporization section also have to stop? How long does it take to get a reply normally?
In the oxygen-enriched gas production process, oxygen-enriched air (60% oxygen-containing air) is used to raise the furnace temperature. A higher furnace temperature leads to a higher rate of steam decomposition, resulting in greater gas production and better quality, as well as higher efficiency in gas production. If the air separation unit stops suddenly, it means that the additional source of oxygen is lost. In such a situation, only air (containing 21% oxygen) along with steam is supplied to the furnace. As the balance is disrupted, insufficient combustion of carbon occurs, the furnace temperature gradually drops, the rate of steam decomposition decreases, and the amount of gas produced becomes increasingly less, until a furnace shutdown occurs.
