What types of coal are used for coal gasification these days? I’ve always used Shenfu coal, but now, considering the price and supply issues, I’m starting to think about using other types of coal as a substitute! I wonder what types of coal other manufacturers use most often!
Beisu coal in Shandong, but the reserves are too small. Yima coal from Henan, but it has too high an ash content. Huating coal from Gansu, but it’s too far away. Shenhua coal from Inner Mongolia, but the shipping cost is too high. Coal blending still needs to be considered.
The key is to ensure that the ash melting point of the coal fed into the furnace after blending is not too high! It’s best to keep the ash content below 8%!
The coal from Huating, Gansu is now being transported via railways; the Xiping Railway, which runs from Xi’an to Pingliang, is under construction. There is also a railway from Huating to Baoji. High-speed roads are currently being built as well, connecting Pingliang to Baoji and Pingliang to Tianshui. The coal from Huating has now piled up in huge amounts!
Fixed-bed boilers generally use medium-grade coals (bituminous coal) from Baotou and Datong. Fluidized-bed boilers often use lignite; non-stick coal or weakly bonded coal can also be used. Long-flame coal is usually sourced from Inner Mongolia and Yunnan
It’s not certain, right? Following the principle of using locally available materials, it is sufficient that they have good pulping properties, a good grindability index, low ash content, and a low ash fusion point.
Coal used in power plants is typically blended, with high-quality coal mixed with lower-quality coal, which can effectively improve economic efficiency. Therefore, coal blending should also be considered for gasification. Mixing together coals with good activity and low ash content with those that have high ash content and poor activity can bring economic benefits.
