We plan to use two multi-feed slurry gasifiers to produce hydrogen. There is plenty of lignite in the vicinity; so, is it more profitable to use lignite or some other type of coal?

The economic benefits of using coal are a matter that requires comprehensive consideration! At present, due to its low degree of metamorphism, high porosity, and high internal water content, it is difficult to produce slurries with high concentration and low viscosity; therefore, lignite is not suitable as a raw material for water-coal slurry gasification on its own. Considering economic benefits and the utilization of lignite resources, coal blending technology can be employed to mix lignite with other coal types that have good slurry-forming properties in certain proportions, thereby producing a slurry suitable for water-coal slurry gasification! The specific coal types to be used in coal blending, as well as the blending ratios, should preferably be determined through experiments!
If the composition of lignite is not very different from that of younger bituminous coal, it might be worth considering using it locally.
