Function of the steam drum: (1) It serves as a connection point for the heating, evaporation, and superheating processes; simultaneously, it acts as a balance device to ensure the pressure head required for the water wall circulation; (2) It contains a certain amount of water and steam, possessing considerable heat storage capacity; when the conditions of the boiler change, it can act as a buffer to stabilize the steam pressure ; (3) Equipped with a steam separation device to ensure the quality of saturated steam ; (4) Equipped with measuring instruments and safety accessories.
The steam coming from the main steam pipeline is distributed via a steam drum and sent to various steam-consuming points, which helps to balance and stabilize the steam pressure. At the same time, it is possible to remove some of the condensed water, thereby maintaining the saturation level of the steam, ensuring certain temperature and pressure levels, reducing the amount of water carried by the steam, and thus guaranteeing optimal performance. It facilitates the monitoring of pipeline network pressure, and in the event of a failure among downstream users, it can also help to distribute and reduce pressure.
