In production, it is inevitable to encounter issues with product color and content not meeting standards. Generally, if the product is a liquid, I usually use distillation ; If the product is solid, recrystallize it first; if recrystallization does not work, dissolve the product in a solvent and then use activated carbon, alumina, etc. for decolorization. For the decolorization of solids, activated carbon is used, followed by recrystallization. There are many types of activated carbon; you can try using various different types in sequence. Another method is decolorization using hydrogen peroxide – add 1% by mass of hydrogen peroxide to the aqueous solution, and carry out the decolorization at 60-80 degrees Celsius!
Chlorine bleach seems to be one method, but I think it has its limitations. The bleaching effect of bleach seems to be primarily caused by oxidation reactions. Does Grandf have any experience in using bleach for decolorization? For which compounds is bleaching powder decolorization mainly used? Are there any things to keep in mind?
