During operation, the inlet pressure of the copper pump rose to 0.1 MPa. The condition of the copper pump appeared normal; the level in the regeneration tank did not increase, and not much oil or water entered the oil drainage system. The regeneration temperature was 75 degrees. It was found that the regeneration gas vent valve was fully open (but it was blocked, so no gas was released), while the regeneration gas recovery valve was slightly open. When the recovery valve was opened fully, the inlet pressure of the copper pump still did not improve. After reducing the pressure, it rose to 0.2 MPa. A large amount of copper liquid sprayed out from all the vent valves. As a result, it was necessary to stop the machine in order to deal with the issues related to the regeneration gas pipeline. Fellow sailors, have you encountered such a situation before? It seems that it’s indeed impossible to resolve this issue without shutting down the machine!
I haven’t encountered this situation. The reasons for this situation are as follows: 1. The liquid level control in the copper tower is low, resulting in high pressure acting on low pressure ; 2. Blockage in the regenerator vent line, blockage in the regenerated gas recovery pipeline. Judging from the original poster’s description, it seems to be the second case.

Yes, on the one hand, it’s because the carbon dioxide concentration in the feed gas often rises, and on the other hand, it’s due to the abnormal weather conditions these past few days with a sharp drop in temperatures. As a result, the regeneration gas pipeline was blocked by ammonium carbonate crystals.

There have been instances where the pressure rose to an appropriate level due to re-ignition, but it didn’t reach a level that would cause copper liquid to flow out of the vent pipes. To address the issue of excessively high pressure in the recycled gas, our plant generally adopts the following measures: 1. Adjust the liquid level in the copper tower to a lower level, in order to prevent high pressure from affecting the low-pressure system ; 2. Strengthen the plugging of the regenerator vent or the purging of the regenerator gas recovery pipeline (our plant is equipped with special steam pipes for purging the regenerator gas pipelines).
If it’s just air leakage, it might be a bit easier to deal with. The steam valve used for purging the regenerative gas pipeline also could not be opened due to lack of use for too long. Some valves are just like that: perhaps they aren’t used for a long time, and they may seem unimportant, but they become essential at critical moments.
The outlet pipe for the regenerated gas is blocked; this has also happened in our factory before, to the point where the copper melt was sprayed out through the vent pipe. The main measures to prevent similar incidents are... Strengthen management, conduct frequent inspections, and perform regular steam cleaning. Upon detecting an increase in the pressure at the inlet of the copper pump and the pressure after pressure reduction in the copper tower, immediate cleaning was carried out to prevent loss of copper melt. On the equipment, hot water is supplied to the upper jacket of the reflux tower to preheat the regenerated gas, thereby preventing crystallization from blocking the pipes.
