To reduce the cost of gas production, the fixed-bed batch gas generation process was modified to use coal balls; as a result, excessive coal ash was generated, which ended up in the gas compressor located in the subsequent stage (the gas compressor is a 2D8 type reciprocating compressor). This caused the service life of the compressor’s valves to be very short, around 1 week. Upon inspection, it was found that the valve discs were covered with hard, dark brown coal dust adhered to them. The inlet pressure of the compressor is 0.027 MPa, and the outlet pressure is 0.8 MPa. The capacity of each compressor to compress water-gas is 2000 Nm3/h. In front of the gas compressor, there are 2 electrostatic precipitators, 2 Roots blowers, 1 water scrubber tower, 1 desulfurization tower, and 1 water separator. Does anyone have any good suggestions? What about installing 2 filters in front of the compressor?
No matter how things change, dust removal equipment will definitely be necessary; otherwise, who can tolerate frequent stops? Installing filters is also an option.

The oil used in reciprocating compressors must prevent gas from mixing in; ordinary compressor oil is soluble in gas, which leads to a significant dilution of its viscosity and a consequent decline in its lubricating properties. 2. The compressor oil needs to have excellent cleaning capabilities – specially formulated oils can clean the valve elements. 3. The oil filters also need to be replaced frequently.
