One of our vacuum distillation towers uses a water circulation jet pump to evacuate the tower. The top gas enters the vacuum tank after passing through the condenser, and is then directed from the top of the vacuum tank to the water circulation vacuum pump. However, we have experienced many times that in the middle of the operation, the water level of the water seal of the vacuum pump suddenly dropped, and the water level appeared in the liquid level gauge of the vacuum tank. It was found that this was caused by the back pumping of the water jet vacuum pump. Please help analyze what is causing this and what solutions should be adopted. Thanks!

The vacuum pump has insufficient suction power, causing water to enter the vacuum tank. The water flow rate is unstable and the flow rate is too low.
A one-way valve can be installed between the vacuum pump and the vacuum tank to solve the problem
Try not to add a one-way valve to the vacuum pipeline. If you must add one, do not use a lift type.
We had a similar phenomenon before. We used a swing check valve to solve the problem, and the effect was okay.
1. First analyze whether this situation occurs periodically. 2. Is there any fluctuation in the distillation tower? For example, a sudden decrease in evaporation volume causes vacuum fluctuations and reverse pumping. 3. Whether the water flow and pressure are stable. 4. Is the water clean? Is there possible unclean water in front of the nozzle and outlet, causing temporary blockage? There are many reasons for vacuum backdraft, which should be carefully observed and analyzed.
Choose swing check valves of different materials, and swing check valves of different materials suitable for the medium.
First of all, the water flow rate is determined by the pump. Vacuum pumps are generally equipped with check valves to prevent backdrafting. We also use this method. It is estimated that the pressure of your distillation tower is unstable during operation, or the steam is not well controlled. If you replace it, there may be a leakage problem in the pipeline from the vacuum pump to the buffer tank.
Are there any problems with the position and height difference between the condenser and the vacuum tank? The vacuum tank should not be too close to the condenser.
