Natural gas reception refers to the receipt of liquefied natural gas, not ordinary natural gas delivered through long-distance pipelines. Are there many companies in the country capable of carrying out such projects, using all their own technology? The three reception station projects that have been completed in China to date are the Shenzhen Dapeng project (French Seban + Global) EPC, the Fujian Putian project (American CBI + Chengda) EPC, and the Shanghai Yangshan project (Japanese IHI Ishikawajima + Taiwanese Zhongding + Wuhuan) EPC. CNPC’s ongoing projects in Dalian and Rudong, Jiangsu are managed by Global EPC, with a British company hired by Global providing technical support. The Dongguan Jiu Feng project was also designed by Global. In summary, at present, the only company in China capable of carrying out EPC work for LNG receiving stations is Huanqiu. In addition, Sinopec Luoyang Institute is also preparing for Sinopec’s first LNG receiving station project.

For natural gas receiving stations, it is essential to choose a liquefied natural gas technology that enables flexible operation of the facility and ensures high efficiency. Although domestic companies are good, it is still necessary to collaborate with major foreign LNG design firms for some time in order to gain more experience in designing large-scale LNG plants, reduce costs, improve equipment efficiency, and enhance the reliability of plant operations. For example, the liquefied natural gas station of Shanghai’s gas pipeline network that came online in 1999, the liquefied natural gas station of the Shaanbei gas field that was put into operation in 1999, the liquefied natural gas facilities at the Jilin oil field, and the liquefied natural gas facilities of Sichuan Mianyang Gas Company are all examples of failures. Either the investment is too high, or the design is unreasonable, resulting in low efficiency or high energy consumption; as a result, the equipment has to be shut down or discarded, leading to significant losses.
Global mainly handles the preliminary feasibility study phase; the core technologies for LNG storage tanks and the technology required for terminal reception still depend on foreign technologies

Through the implementation of these two projects, Huanqiu should be able to master the technology of LNG receiving stations to a considerable extent.
