The pumps and pipes used for handling fine slag in our facility often get worn out after a while. Are there any better, more wear-resistant materials for pumps and pipes suitable for slag treatment?
In solid conveying and slurry coal conveying, we use wear-resistant composite plates. The wear-resistant layer is primarily composed of chromium, along with other elements such as manganese and molybdenum. The resulting alloy carbides exhibit high stability at high temperatures; they are problem-free below 500 degrees.
By using a ceramic lining as wear-resistant elbows or pipes, the service life can be effectively extended! Alternatively, carburizing treatment can be applied to the pipes, though it may be more costly! When designing pipes, it might be better to leave some margin for erosion!
Pumps can be those equipped with wear-resistant linings; the lining material can be high-chromium cast iron, ceramics, etc; Pipes can also be lined pipes, with lining materials such as high-chromium cast iron and ceramics available.
Is your pump not also variable-frequency controlled? Is the pump too large, resulting in a high flow rate? Our unit is preparing to make modifications, switching to variable-frequency control for better results.
Spraying carbide or other materials could be considered as a solution; if that doesn’t work or if the cost is too high, I think trying to use ceramic or corundum linings might be an option.
A request was made for the pump manufacturers to change the materials used for the impeller and pump cover. There are many manufacturers that produce pumps resistant to wear and corrosion, but it’s not practical to purchase such pumps and have them modified oneself; It seems that ceramic lining for pipes is more practical – it’s easier to replace and the cost isn’t high
