What is the purpose of connecting compressed air at the inlet of the plate and frame filter press?
For a simple question, a simple answer: dry with air. To explain further, in such piping systems, at the material inlet and during the later stage of cake formation, low-pressure air is used for drying. Such drying can, on the one hand, increase the yield of the filtrate, or in other words, ensure that the filtrate is completely removed ; The other side obtains a “dry” filter cake with little liquid content.

None of the above answers are comprehensive; the main purpose is that before disassembling the press, there are many materials inside, and compressed air must be used to push these materials into the next processing stage. Of course, using water to push it down works as well, but it will reduce the concentration of the material.
It must be due to accumulation; it’s the same principle as with water ingress – the gas never comes into contact with the filter cake!
Connecting a compressed air pipe at the feed inlet is a highly unprofessional practice. To dry the filter cake, the common practice is to blow from the back of the filter cake, that is, to introduce compressed air from the filtrate side.
There are two functions. First: it serves for drying, as mentioned on the second floor. Second: it facilitates the removal of the material, eliminating the need for manual cleanup. Pay attention to the installation of the air pipe – it must be connected above the inlet of the material pipe; otherwise, the thin material may flow back into the air pipe or the air tank during the drying process.
