Our workshop is quite old. There are no ever-burning lamps. But gas and oil flames burn together. Moreover, there are 9 systems that burn gas, and one that burns self-produced gas. When I took over the shift 2 days ago, due to low workload, all the gas flames were turned off during the previous shift. Only oil and fire remain. I think it’s very dangerous once there are fluctuations in fuel prices. It will cause the fire inside the furnace to go out completely. Moreover, for devices without an eternal flame, many faults can cause the fire to go out completely. For example, no wind. So once the fire is completely out, what will you do? 1 Re-ignite immediately. If detected late, the furnace temperature drops significantly. (For example, over 500 degrees). The introduced gas can catch fire on its own – was ignition successful? In other words, what is the auto-ignition temperature of Gas? What about the oil and fire? Reduced bottom residue has a auto-ignition temperature of over 300 degrees, I believe. But if the furnace temperature drops to 400 degrees, it won’t be able to ignite. The main issue is that reignition poses a risk of explosion, as the valves may not be sealed properly and gas could leak in. Is there a foolproof way to ignite it? Shut off the gas immediately, purge the gas burner – is it okay to light it with oil? ? ? ? 2 Do not ignite. That means work stops. The consequences go without saying. I wonder if anyone has encountered the situation I described. Anyway, old devices should have such problems. I hope everyone will discuss it.
The foolproof way to ignite is not to ignite at all. In fact, if there is no constant light, it’s better not to light it. If it has just been extinguished, the gas can be turned on right away, but someone needs to keep an eye on the flame; if it doesn’t catch fire, the valve should be closed immediately. However, if the temperature drops significantly, it’s better not to light it.
There are many heaters that use oil as fuel alone; your concern is understandable. However, there’s no need to worry about fluctuations – if it shuts down, simply restart it.
Ventilate and purge for a while first, then ignite.
If all the flames in the heating furnace go out (no pilot light remains), what do you do? Possible options: 1. Close all the gas valves leading into the furnace completely ; 2. Pass accident steam through to blow it out for about 10 minutes, then open the flue damper and extract for 5 to 10 minutes. 3. Turn on the stove to raise the temperature.
Under normal conditions, it is necessary to maintain a certain ratio between oil and gas combustion; this way, when the oil nozzle stops working, the gas nozzle will still be functioning, preventing the furnace from going out. I agree with the views expressed on the 5th floor for the rest of the points.
Agree with the suggestion from floor 6: do not start the ignition blindly; wait until everything is confirmed to be fine before proceeding! It’s better to install a perpetual light; it doesn’t cost much and can be considered an investment in safety
There is no need to worry about the flame going out in reduced-pressure residue; as long as the fuel supply is not cut off, at most the flame will dim but it won’t go out completely. However, gas cannot be introduced directly to prevent deflagration and damage to the heater.
The temperature of the furnace should drop slowly; regular and thorough inspections are carried out on a daily basis; If they all go out, it is definitely necessary to follow the startup procedure, which involves cutting off the fuel, purging the furnace, and checking that the combustible gas level in the furnace is within acceptable limits ; I’ve never seen such a furnace before, and I have little practical experience with it; I would suggest modifying the workshop by replacing the burners and adding a pilot light
When everything is extinguished, purging is of course required. Wind cannot be used; instead, steam should be used for purging until air is visible at the chimney. After 10 minutes, the laboratory should be contacted for analysis, and only once the results are satisfactory can the furnace be started. Regardless of the furnace temperature, it is necessary to first turn off the supply, light a torch and insert it inside, before opening the valves, while also taking proper personal protective measures
The safest method is to first perform a steam purge; once steam is visible in the chimney, wait for 5 minutes before lighting it. It is recommended to use a longer flame; if that’s not possible, at least maintain a mixture of oil and gas for combustion.
