It refers to the “plate efficiency” of distillation columns or absorption towers: victory:

Stage efficiency refers to the tray efficiency, which can generally be estimated using the D_B method and the O’Connell method.
Is it not “plate efficiency”? I just saw it yesterday. Is “stage efficiency” the same thing as well? So which one is better?
Literally, it means “grade efficiency”. Because in the process flow, there can be primary absorption towers, secondary absorption towers, and so on. Speaking of PROII, here are some tips for viewing help: Open PROII’s data entry page; if there are no fields for entering required data on that page, press the HELP button. The default help topic will only display information related to the OK and CANCEL buttons. If you need help information for other data input fields, you can first select the data input field, then right-click and choose HELP, or press F1. This STAGE EFFICACY should be checked and defined using the method above. I haven’t tried it; the original poster can give it a try to see whether it’s plate efficiency or stage efficiency, or whether single tower systems have plate efficiency while multi-tower systems have stage efficiency, or something else Give it a try; I hope it can be of some help to you!
