There’s no way to guarantee that stress corrosion won’t occur, so the user’s request is reasonable. Do not look at the wet hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion environment specified in the tolerance standards.
Safety regulations are part of the safety technical standards; they are mandatory and represent the minimum requirements. As users, one can have higher standards, so there is no issue with these requirements – it’s just a matter of complying with them.

The standards represent the minimum requirements; you can go above them, but not below. Generally, meeting those standards is sufficient – there’s no need to be overly strict (considering cost factors).
