Argon arc welding for backing and gas shielded welding are often used in pipeline construction; I would appreciate some guidance on these two methods

1. Gas shielded welding is an arc welding process in which an external gas is used as the medium for the arc, thereby protecting the arc and the welding area; it is sometimes also referred to as gas metal arc welding. In this process, the wire used as the electrode melts into liquid metal during welding, which then fills the weld area. Its advantage lies in the ability to perform welding in various positions; it is suitable for welding non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, carbon steel, and alloy steel ; At the same time, its welding speed is faster than that of gas shielded welding with a non-fusing electrode, it has a higher deposition efficiency and better welding quality. 3. Generally, in the welding of pressure pipelines, this method is employed to ensure welding quality and increase the first-pass success rate for radiographic inspections ; Generally, TIG welding is used for welding stainless steel pipes, while for carbon steel pipelines, TIG welding is employed as the root pass and shielded metal arc welding as the cover pass in order to reduce welding costs.
