Issues with the archiving of design drawings

Please discuss how long the design documentation should be retained; could it be kept for 7 years, just like the manufacturing documentation?
Theoretically, it should be kept for 7 years, but in our company it is actually kept for over twenty years.
If conditions permit and it’s possible to manage it, the equipment should be stored for a longer period. Manufacturers encounter many problems in practice; sometimes equipment used by customers for over 10 years still needs repair, and having drawings and other documents makes things much easier at that time
The drawings from my company from ten years ago were lost due to organizational restructuring. .
It seems that it should be preserved for 20 years, so that if problems arise with the equipment during that period, it will be possible to determine whether there were issues in the design
According to the standards, it should be no less than 7 years; as for keeping it for a longer period, it depends on the capabilities of each organization. However, I believe it is very important to keep it for as long as possible. In future designs, there will definitely be situations where such records need to be borrowed or referenced. If the design documents do not specify how many years they must be kept, they should be retained indefinitely. The guy on the 6th floor said it very well – this is the most precious asset of a design firm; we should cherish and take care of these results that reflect the hard work of the designers.
There is no mandatory requirement, but it is best to keep it for a long time.
It should be no less than the design lifespan of the equipment! Of course, the longer, the better if conditions permit
For the design and construction drawings, how many copies should the project owner keep on file, and how many for the construction contractor? Dear masters, please give an answer. Thank you!
It shall be carried out in accordance with the pressure vessel design manual and management system requirements, and the service life shall be at least as long as the designed service life of the vessel.
