I would like to ask all the colleagues and friends working in the hydrogenation field: what are the similarities and differences between the hydrogenation system designs developed by Luoyang Institute and Fuyan Institute? From a person with extensive experience in this field, it’s usually possible to tell at a glance which design institute is responsible for designing a particular hydrogenation facility, right? Could everyone please tell me the characteristics of each institute?
It is understood that the Fuyan Research Institute focuses on catalyst research; the Shihua Research Institute is equally renowned in this field. These two institutions are the main ones involved in the research of domestic hydrogenation catalysts. As for the process design of hydrogenation units, the Luoyang Institute and the Beijing Institute take the lead in this area. The Luoyang Institute draws on UOP technology for many of its design concepts, while I have no experience with the designs developed by the Beijing Institute, so it’s hard to say anything about them

The Institute of Petrology and the Fuyuan Research Institute focus mainly on hydrogenation catalyst research, while the design of hydrogenation processes is handled primarily by the Luoyang Institute and the Beijing Institute. The design concepts of the Luoyang Institute are quite similar to those of UOP, whereas it is said that the Beijing Institute has extensive connections with Chevron
