Hello, everyone! I would like to ask: standard parts already have a galvanized coating on their surface, but after being used for some time they still rust severely. How can corrosion be prevented more effectively? This is especially true for items that have turned black; the rusting problem is also quite serious. Is there any way to solve it? :loveliness:
It depends on your operating conditions, how quickly corrosion starts, and the cost of replacement. If you need good corrosion resistance and a long service life, I recommend using bolts with a YFluo PTFE coating; these are produced in Shenzhen. I work in the offshore oil industry, and we used galvanized or cadmium-plated bolts on our platforms, which had to be replaced every six months. After switching to YFluo-coated bolts, we’ve used them for two years without any signs of rust, though they are relatively expensive. It depends on whether you can afford them. Coatings for standard parts, in order of decreasing corrosion resistance: blackening, phosphating, galvanizing, cadmium plating, hot-dip galvanizing, PTFE. I hope this helps you
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-coated ones are too expensive. But it’s worth the price. Polytetrafluoroethylene has excellent corrosion resistance. It seems that if the operating conditions of the standard components used by the original poster are poor, it is still possible to use such advanced devices
It depends on where your bolts are used; if they are for towers and equipment, applying grease in excess will yield good results.
