My main purpose in going from the technical department to the workshop is to understand the actual conditions on site as well as how the equipment is started and stopped. It would be ideal to learn how to carry out these operations within a limited time frame, and even to be able to oversee them. I know this might be difficult, but I really don’t want to waste too much time in the workshop, as my future career goals are in the field of engineering or design. But how long should I stay there? Is half a year enough? I think I’ll stay for at most half a year; if the company doesn’t transfer me to a higher position later, I’ll consider other options. Since I’ll be staying for an extended period, I’m worried that my skills in design might get rusty. What do you all think of my plan? Looking forward to active discussions from everyone! ! Half a year isn’t enough; at least a year is required. It takes a lot of time to understand the whole process as well
If you work hard, half a year in the workshop is sufficient; the key is to humbly learn from the experienced workers on the front line – much knowledge is acquired through experience, and it will be very helpful for doing design work in the future. Wishing you good results.
What if there’s no shutdown or resumption in half a year? I think it will take at least a year; there’s still a lot to learn in the workshop. Also, when I have time, I’ll start reading books on design in advance.

A long time ago, university graduates who were assigned to work in design institutes would first spend a year in a factory for practical training. Chemical plants operate on a continuous basis, so three shifts are required. However, those involved in process design need to understand the production processes, pipeline layout, and operating procedures; I think the previous training method made some sense.
I suggest that you not work only in one workshop; instead, go to several different ones such as those for atmospheric and vacuum distillation, catalytic cracking, reforming, and hydrogenation. This way you can learn everything comprehensively and consult with various experienced workers, which will be very beneficial for your future development
About 1 year, I guess. You should learn from the experienced workers in the workshop and ask them for advice more often. It will be of great help for your future designs. Don’t be afraid of hardship or fatigue.
I think studying hard for half a year is enough; staying longer will weaken one’s determination. Just make sure to have clear goals throughout this process, and never forget your original intention! !
I think at least a year is needed; if one stays for just half a year, what if there are no opportunities to park or drive? There is at least one opportunity per year for parking and maintenance, and you might learn what you want to learn
In your case, with a process that you designed yourself, if you are familiar with it, you will be able to identify on-site those areas where what you originally designed differs from the initial intentions behind that design. Or perhaps what seemed like a good solution at the time of design might not be suitable after all; there could be better alternatives or changes in the process. As for valve design, etc., it’s necessary to consult the operators on site. Someone as smart as you, in my opinion, will find half a year sufficient
First and foremost, it’s clear that half a year is definitely not enough. Even if you take part in the traffic control for starting and stopping vehicles, are you confident that you’ll understand everything just from this once? You need to practice more times before you can handle parallel parking on your own. I have a testing method here: go to the relevant sections and take a look at everyone’s various questions. How many of those questions do you think you could solve completely on your own?
As for my rotational training experience in the workshops to prepare me for a career as a technician in the future, I spent 3 months in the main workstations of the respective workshops, 1 month in regular positions, and 2 shifts working on the simplest types of tasks. Otherwise, you won’t be able to spot the problem.
It depends on an individual’s aptitude; those who are capable and eager to learn should be able to achieve it in about half a year:handshake
What does LZ mean? If you stay in your current job for ten years, do you think you can become that much more skilled? Only you know exactly how much you want to learn. If you truly find that it’s not something that interests you, it’s best to look for another job as soon as possible! !
One year is too short; at least two years. Theory should be combined with experience, and the ability to handle accidents in practice must also be improved. Personal opinion: From the way you speak, it seems you don’t intend to make a name for yourself at the top level.

Regarding the time required, opinions vary from person to person – generally, one year is needed; if opportunities are favorable and one’s learning ability is strong, three months during periods of downtime should be sufficient. 2. Regarding technical issues, there are differences between design and operation. However, by thinking more, asking more questions, and practicing more, one can quickly become familiar with it if they have a foundation in design. 3. In a workshop, one mainly deals with people; it’s the right approach to strive to learn from others. Everyone has their own strengths, so don’t think too highly of yourself. 4. Maintain a positive mindset——don’t plan how long you’ll stay; instead, focus on doing your best ; With the mindset that one will leave sooner or later, one not only fails to learn anything real but also fails to make true friends ; First of all, you need to like this job; otherwise, you won’t delve into it deeply.
