At present, all six bottom covers of our coke towers are removed and installed manually. The fan is turned on during the packaging bottom cover and first drilling stage, with a pressure of around 0.6~0.7 MPa; for the second drilling stage, system air is used, at a pressure of 0.4 MPa. The bottom cover and feed short-circuit flanges use oval gaskets and octagonal gaskets, with no washers on the nuts. I have used the wind triggers SB30, BE30, and CN33 – they all have a high failure rate and require a lot of spare parts. I would like colleagues in the coking industry to share their experiences so that we can all learn from them. There are many coking processes that rely on system air to operate the air triggers for sealing the bottom covers and for removing coke; it’s not clear what pressure can be achieved in such cases. In some cases, wound gaskets are used as temporary solutions for feeding the coke towers – each company seems to have its own clever approaches……
We rely directly on the system wind to drive the wind trigger, the enclosure bottom cover, and the defocusing process; the pressure is 0.4–0.6 MPa, which is sufficient.
Wind triggers have a high failure rate and high consumable parts usage. It is a common phenomenon with the devices that use manual bottom cover removal machines at present, unless an automatic bottom cover machine is used.
Switch to an automatic bottom cover machine with hydraulic bolts – no more headaches with pneumatic triggers; Octagonal gaskets are recommended for the bottom cover and feed short-circuit flanges ;
We are also waiting to see how things progress with domestic fully automatic bottom cover machines; if the technology is indeed mature and reliable, it would be better to switch straight to fully automatic bottom cover machines.
Using an automatic top and bottom cover loading/unloading system is convenient, labor-saving, and safe. It’s a good idea to install it during the project renovation – it saves a lot of hassle
